Using Google Alerts, you can get an email any time a competitor website receives a backlink. If you get an alert, you can then go to that page and attempt to get the same backlink thus keeping up link-for-link with your competitors websites.You may or may not be aware of it but Google has Google Alerts. Google Alerts are email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) based on your choice of query or topic.Here is how:

• Go here: Google Alerts - Monitor the Web for interesting new content
• In Search Terms enter: Code:

  link:<competitor URL>

• Type: Everything
• Often: At least once a day but as-it happens is best
• Volume: all results

In step two you can also use: Code:

linkdomain:<url.com> -site:<url.com>

OR Code:

inurl:<url.com>
